Frequently Asked Questions

This FAQ section of my scrapbook provides answers to some of the most common questions I have been asked from family and friends about the Rick Steves' tours.

  • Where can I find the official Best of Sicily in 11 Days Itinerary?
Made it easy for you, right here on the Rick Steves' Website - linked here.
  • Why would you choose a Rick Steves' tour?
For a millions reasons! But here are the main reasons for me: First and foremost, I can't articulate just how thoughtful and special these tours are. Having priceless, unique opportunities you wouldn't be able to experience otherwise; from having lunch prepared by the Baronessa and learning how to make cannolis from Having a professional guide every step of your trip allows for peace of mind and for you to enjoy your trip without the hassle of coordinating a trip on your own Hotels that are the best of the best, whether in the heart of the city center or a truly stunning off the grid location, they are the professionals at picking the perfect lodging. And transportation is taken care of- through a professional bus driver or coordinated public transportation; breakfast and some meals are also included. You can see what is all included on the tours website found here.
  • What is it like traveling with a group?
Being on a tour with a group of new people from all around the world has made the really experience fun for me. I think you get out of it, what you put into it. So if you are friendly and open to new friendships, there is a strong likelihood that you will come out of the experience with a new friend. The tour is also designed so that you are not with the group the entire day and that you get enough opportunity to have your own free time away from the group.
  • What are your packing tips?
Less is more; since the tour is active and you are moving from one city to the next, having a big, heavy suitcase is not the way to go. Comfortable shoes - I think this goes without saying😊 you will be walking a lot so make sure you have a pair or two of shoes that you know you are comfortable in before you leave for the trip. I am quite the fashionista and they have come out with some trendy looking comfortable shoes My first trip with Rick Steves' Tours my Mom suggested getting packing cubes and these are a life saver! I can't recommend them enough if you don't have them. It is a great way to stay organized and save space in your suitcase Lightweight, breathable clothing! Since these tours are pretty active and depending on the time of the month you go, it is smart to have breathable clothes
  • Will I be able to get by if I can't speak Italian?
Yes. My tips are 1.) Try and use any Italian you do know, even Hello (Ciao) or Thank you (Grazie) goes along way when communicating 2.) Respect - as long as you try and are respectful, you will be a-okay!
  • What is an Aperol Spritz?
Glad you asked! It is my favorite cocktail. All you need is Aperol, prosecco, club soda, lots of ice, and an orange (for garnish). You can find a recipe to make it here.
